Thanksgiving Giveaway

11/14/2023

“Thanksgiving is a moment of reflection, but unfortunately, not all families can afford to celebrate it,” Neighbors in Ministry, Executive Director, William Mills said in a statement.

“We facilitate this giveaway every year, in an effort to help neighboring families in need to support our “Outreach to our community members that may be struggling to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal and possibly create good memories with their loved ones.”

Sharing House collected numerous perishable and nonperishable donations that were especially needed to meet the increased number of people seeking assistance with food and essentials.  Partners joined in to support our outreach efforts: Board Members, tutors, families of Rise and Shine, members of Bethel A Baptist Church and staff from the Sharing House.

Fortunately, organizations and individuals provided substantial assistance, as well as, volunteering to distribute bags and boxes to family

“It’s heartwarming and encouraging to see so many people come together to provide for those in need, especially at the holidays,”

Families received large bags of can goods and large boxes of fruits and vegetables. Additionally, they were given side dishes like stuffing, potatoes, and cranberry sauce — everything required to prepare a Thanksgiving meal for their loved ones.

The giveaway began at 2:00 p.m. and operated on a first-come, first-served basis.
